Welcome to Holmes

Holmes Fire Company is one of six volunteer fire companies that serve Ridley Township. We are located about five miles south of Philadelphia. Our Company operates utilizing an engine, squrt, ladder, light rescue, and an ambulance. At Holmes Fire Company, we have about 35 active members who respond day and night in the event of emergencies.

2nd alarm RIT assist

The RIT assignment was dispatched at 15:55 hours on 7-25-10. The company was sent as the second alarm RIT to 80 W. Baltimore Ave in Lansdowne. Company 19 had a six story apartment building with fire showing on the third floor. The company was in service for 2 hrs and 10 min.


 
Assist to funeral

The company assisted with the viewing and funeral for Past Deputy Chief Charlie Hornberger of the Milmont Park Fire Company. The officers and members assisted with the honor guard, as pall bearers and the ladder assisted with the Arch at station 49. Chief Hornberger was a member of Company 43 in the late 1970"s and served as a Fire Captain


 
Multiple Water Rescues

On Tuesday 7-13-10, the company was disptached to three water rescues during the heavy rain storm. Additonally, the company was dispatched to Chipmunk Lane for wires.


 
Death Announcement

It is with deep sadness that the Officers and Members of the Holmes Fire Company announce the passing of Firefighter George Pavlik. Firefighter Pavlik joined the company April 1, 1962.  During his tenure with the company, he held the rank of Captain and was on the Board of Directors.


 
Vehicle Fire with Extension

At 21:54, Company 43 was dispatched to 360 Hutchinson Terrace for the investigation.  43-9b (Hudyma Jr) went on location with a van well involved with extension a garage, and requested the assignment be upgraded to the building response.  Squrt 43 arrived on location and stretched an 1 3/4"  to extinguish the fire.  The crew from Engine 75 assisted with checking for extension in the garage and overhaul of the van.  Ridley Car 1 (Griffith) was called in for the investigation.  The Company was in service for appor 90 minutes.


 
   
   
Assist to the Hero Bowl

The annual Hero Bowl to benefit the Hero Scholarship fund for Delaware County was held on Thursday 6-3-10. Ladder 43 was requested by Chief County Fire Marshal Joe Locke to participate in the arch at the entry way to the stadium.  Ladder 48 was the other half of the arch. The ladder crew was in service for 3 hours

At 08:41 Company 43  along with Co 18 (Folsom), Co 70 (Leedom), Co 05 (Glenolden), Co 75(Briarcliffe) Co 49 (Milmont), and RIT 45 (Parkside) were dispatched to 914 South Ave Apt B34 for the building fire with smoke coming from the apartment.  Squrt 43 arrived and 43-9b (Hudyma Jr) reported smoke showing from the second floor apartment.  The crew from the Squrt stretched an 1 3/4" to the second floor apartment, while Tower 05 was order to the roof to ventilate and Engine 70 dropped a supply line into the Squrt.   Neighbors reported that they thought the residents were still in the apartment.  A crew from 75 assisted the Squrt crew with the extinguishment of a kitchen fire and primary and secondary searches. The company was on scene for approximately 2 hours while the Township Fire Marshall conducted his investigation.


 
Congratulations on a major milestone

The officers and members of the Holmes Fire Company wish to extend their congratulations to Asst. Engineer John Anderson on a major milestone. Today, 5-15-10, marks John's 50th service anniversary in the fire service. John also served for many years as a firefighter and officer with the Ridley Park Fire Company. John retired holding the rank of Chief. Congratulations John.


 
Assist to Springfield

At 15:17 hours on 5-9-10, the RIT was dispatched to assist Company 44. Springfield PD was on location at the Victory Cleaners, 2 East Springfield Rd with heavy smoke showing. The RIT assignment cleared at 15:57. At that time, the crew stood by at station 44 for the cover.  At 16:26 hrs, the cover companies were dispatched to 220 Hillview rd to investigate the CO alarm.


 
Accident with Entrapment assist to Company 05

The company was dispatched at 14:34 hours on 3-31-10 to the intersection of Oak ave and Chester Pike in Glenolden for the accident with entrapment. The Rescue crew completed a door pop on the passenger door. The company was in service for 36 min
