A busy day for Company 43 started at 00:48 with an assist to Co 07 (Ridley Park for the fire alarm at 112 N. Swarthmore Ave. while en route Ladder 43 was recalled due to the tripped alarm.  Just as our members got back in their homes, the pager went off for the building fire in Folsom.  Co's 43, 49 (Milmont), 14 (Swarthmore) for the RIT were dispatched to assist Co 18 (Folsom) at 325 Swarthmore Ave for the building fire reported to be in the dryer.  18-9 (Carolla) went on location and reported he had smoke showing, Ladder 43 was first on scene and sent a crerw in to locate the fire.  Crews found a dryer  well off in the rear utility room and held the fire in check with a pressurized water, while a second crew from the ladder stretched an 1 3/4" handline to the basement to finish extinguishing the fire.  Crews from 49 established a water supply and assisted with ventilation and overhaul. The day finished with two assist to EMS.  At 10:35  and 17:49,  Company 43 was dispatched to the apartments at 640 Sout Ave and 914 South ave to assist the EMS with lifting.

In 2009, the company responded to 338 incidents. We were in service for 194 hours. The top responders for the year were Rick West, John Hudyma Jr. , Joe Hudyma, Mark Hackney, Rich Daisley, David Hollenbach, Bill Paul IV, John Hudyma Sr. , Mark Albrecht, and Bob Hollenbach Jr.

The fire company is selling Christmas trees. Weeknight hours are from 18:00 to 21:00. Weekend hours are from 09:00 to 21:00. During the weekend hours, the Ladies Auxiliary will be having a bake sale

On Sunday 10-25-09, The Ladies Auxiliary of the fire company will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fund raiser. The dinner will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Adults are $7.00, Children from 4 yrs to 12 yrs are $4.00, Children under 4 yrs are free. Take out is available.

Congratulations to Jason and Nancy Galloway on the birth of their daughter Abigale.

The Fleet participated in the Delaware County Fireman's Association Parade. 5 of the 7 pieces of apparatus that participated were entered into judging. 43-2 took a second place for it's engine category, Squrt 43 took first place in it's category, Ladder 43 took first place in it's category, and Rescue 43 took first place in it's category. Thanks to the crew for a job well done.

The company did 8 fire prevention sessions during the week. Visits were made to Delco Day Care, Holmes Presbyterian Church, Holy Spirit Church, Company 05's open house, Company 18's open house and Company 44's open house. Thanks to all members who assisted with these visits.

Holmes Fire Co will be having a beef and beer at the fire house, which will feature a Texas Hold 'Em tournament on October 24, 2009.   The event will start at 6:00 p.m. and cost $60.00.  Prizes will be as follows: 1st place $500, 2nd place $250, and 3rd place $100.00.  Pre-registration is not required,  anyone interested can pay at the door the night of the event.  If you would like any additional information, contact the firehouse at 610-461-4288 or email Joe Hudyma at j.hudyma@comcast.net.
